THE DIRECT ANSWER

TD status itself does not authorize employment. An eligible spouse or unmarried child under 21 may seek TD status, but any work the spouse wants to do needs its own separate authorization or category review.

Treat the spouse's activity as its own question

This includes remote work for a Canadian employer performed physically from the United States; the employer's home country does not decide whether the activity is authorized. Review a child's school plans and age separately as well, and confirm whether the household is arriving together or in stages so each person's paperwork lines up with their actual plan. Have the original issuers correct source documents, then compare the final versions before seeking admission or using a USCIS process.

For family planning, list each dependent's intended entry date, study plan, and work plan separately. A dependent's document does not authorize work merely because the principal has a professional role. Decide whether a later arrival or a different lawful route is needed before commitments are made.

Hypothetical example: A forestry consultant plans to travel first while a partner continues remote teaching; the household must confirm that the partner has lawful work authorization before working from the United States.
